Suggested Wedding Attire
Anything, any color. Yes, you can wear white. Encouraged! It’s summer! Have fun. Get an old prom dress for $20. Wear your gold Gucci. Wear your wedding tux. Feathers, sequins, Batman costume. Who cares? Whatever’s fun to you. It can get a lil’ breezy in the evenings because we’re in the mountains so bring a lil’ wrap or something, just in case. Flats encouraged because of hills & cobblestones… unless you’re being carried and that’s part of your vibe.
Porto
Fun for music & gorgeous history, food, sight-seeing. This guide covers a bunch of great hotels. Rua’s a fun music & tapas bar in Cedofeita neighborhood. Also, check out what’s coming at Hot Clube de Portugal.
Lagos
Gorgeous cliffside beach town. Plenty of lovely places to stay like this.
Trains
From Lisbon, you can easily take the train to either city within a couple of hours.
Where else should I go if I have a week?

Why Sintra?
We think it’s the prettiest place in the whole world, and a lot of other people do too! The whole area is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Ask Rick Steve. You can walk everywhere or take a lil’ tuk tuk. It’s only 30 min from Lisbon Airport in an Uber or you can book a shuttle from the hotel. Please, don’t try to drive in Sintra. Teeny, tiny streets.
We recommend planning to be on vacation for a couple of weeks and exploring all over Portugal. It’s 12-13 hours flight time from LAX to Lisbon and 9-10 hours flight time from CLT. New Yorkers win at 7 hours.
Get Ready!
Please note both Sintra and Lisbon have loads of hills. Exploring is best on foot and you’ll be happiest if you can stroll at least a mile or two a day. (Jeremy and I average from 5-8 miles a day.) Check out your AllTrails maps for Sintra and UNESCO’s list of trails around the village and castles.
More of a beach person? You can go to The Algarve after the wedding:)
